Finding productive hobbies

Several years ago I got into metal detecting. Bought a tesoro compadre, pinpointer, shovel, and a small bucket. Since then I have spent numerous hours digging around old sawmill communities dating to the late 1800s and early 1900s.

I find the searching and digging very peaceful. Even though I have not found anything of real value, I have found spoons, forks, a buffalo nickle, and lots of pieces of broken jars, plates... etc. Usually the broken jars and plates are mixed in with scrap metal as if the location was a trash pile.
